San Diego County Sheriff’s Department

Mr. Kahn’s community service started in the 1970s when he became a member of the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department as a cadet. In 1995 he completed a 25-year law enforcement career as a reservist with the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department, retiring with the rank of Sheriff’s Captain. He received numerous departmental commendations and citations.

Mr. Kahn, while still in law school, was a member of the prosecution team that successfully prosecuted Mr. C. Arnholt Smith, a former “Mr. San Diego” for criminal offenses related to the collapse of his business empire which included the failure of US National Bank (the largest bank failure in the Unites States up to that point in time).

U.S. Marshal, Homeland Security, Economic Advisor

Mr. Kahn was selected for the position of U.S. Marshal for the Southern District of California. He was also selected by the Adjutant General of the State of California to serve on the Advisory Board for Homeland Security. Additionally, the San Diego County Board of Supervisors appointed him to its Board of Economic Advisors for five years, including two terms as Chair of the Board Trade Group and the Military Affairs Group.

Federal Reserve
“Beige Book”

Mr. Kahn was appointed by the San Francisco Federal Reserve Bank to the “Beige Book” survey committee of leading economic indicators.

Thomas Jefferson School of Law

Mr. Kahn was Chairman of the Thomas Jefferson School of Law for nearly a decade. He was instrumental in relocating the school to its new building in the East Village and served as the pro bono development advisor to the school. Currently he still serves as Chairman Emeritus and Of Counsel.

Criminal Justice Legal Foundation

Mr. Kahn is a Trustee of the Criminal Justice Legal Foundation which is committed to defending the interests of crime victims and law enforcement through both State and Federal appellate jurisdictions.

Mr. Kahn is also Chairman of the Board of Directors of DAMG Student Housing Partners.
